Let's do this!

It's the middle of February. It's cold. I'm in okay-but-could-definitely-be-better shape.

I have signed up for the Kinetic Sprint Triathlon in Spotsylvania, VA on May 09, 2010. I am enrolled as a novice, as it will be my first official triathlon. I'm nervous, but confidant knowing that I have friends that will be going through this with me.

We have 10 weeks to get our swim strokes down, our cycles in check, and our running form in order. I am enrolled in a 10-week triathlon training class at the Adirondack Club in Franklin, MA (home of the nation's first public library).

Two weeks ago, I got in the pool for the first time ever as a serious swimmer. I am managing okay, but can only swim 75 yards without stopping.

I have been going to cycling classes for about 4 months now, and have also invested in me by buying the shoes (I really just wanted to fit in with all the other soccer moms in the class.) I can cycle well, and just need to continue going to the classes, and practice actual road work when the temperatures rise a little.

I can run a 5K on the treadmill in 30:30, and wish to get that time down to 27:00 by May. I know that I will also need to start training outside when the weather gets better. But enough of this "later" B.S. I'ma start this now!
